As you drive into the ranch you might notice a new sign, with a new phone number. This is because the ranch is now being managed by John and Drew Bender who now live on the “island”. John and Carol Bender (the owners) have moved. You might want to write the number down. (916) 862-4998
The new hay has arrived and is being slowly transitioned into the daily feed schedule. It is supposed to be orchard grass with a little alfalfa. When we looked at it we couldn’t find any alfalfa. There is still quite a lot of rye grass and straight alfalfa available too.
Dr. Josh Holme has accepted a new position in Oregon and will no longer be available to come to the ranch. For boarders who need to find a new vet – Dr. Sara Bartholomew lives fairly close by and is willing to provide us with services. http://www.capitolequine.com/ (916) 997-8444
Mokelumne River Ranch Equestrian Center is a 30 acre equestrian facility located about 15 minutes South of Sacramento in the quaint town of Thornton, California. The ranch is located along the Mokelumne river near where it joins the Cosumnes river, on the way to the California delta. The ranch features a large covered arena, a regulation dressage arena, an obstacle arena and miles of cross country trails with obstacles. Because of the ranch’s proximity to the Mokelumne river, boarders are able to ride on the levee road and around neighboring vineyards.
Boarding rates vary according to location throughout the ranch and which services the boarder wants. For more information click on the Rates and Fees/Boarding menu above. The ranch does NOT have a resident trainer. Boarders are encouraged to invite the trainer of their choice to the ranch to give them a lesson – there is no extra charge.
